Expert Energy Service Assistance
Midwest Energy provides a wide range of energy services including duct testing, combustion analysis, blower door tests, infrared scans, Kansas Energy Ratings, insulation inspections, heating-cooling-ventilation system (HVAC) size calculations, building energy-use simulations and lighting design. All services are based on the three basic building science principles of safety, comfort, and affordability. A total building concept is used to analyze buildings. Because the building works as a system, we focus on the total building, not a single subsystem.
Our specialists have an average of 15 years experience in the building science field. They have completed and continue to receive numerous hours of training, certifications and licenses dealing with energy performance. Licenses and certifications include: Kansas Energy Star Rater Certified, National Home Energy Rater, KDCH Home Inspection Certified, Certified Residential Energy Auditor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Level 2 Thermographer, Certified C/I Energy Auditor from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Lighting Design Certification from General Electric.
Midwest Energy has also invested in the tools required to provide these energy services. The most recent addition is a "Duct Blaster" to help detect wasteful leaks in the duct work of a home or business. In addition, Midwest Energy uses an infrared scanner to detect hot spots in machinery or places in a building where heat is lost, a "blower door" to detect excessive air leakage in structures, a combustion analyzer to check for proper fuel/air mixtures, and the latest software tools to model the use of energy and optimize the efficiency of energy-using equipment.

If requested, Midwest Energy will also conduct source-side power quality surveys for customers, as well as detailed customer-side power quality surveys.
