Apr. 18 Named “Lineman Appreciation Day” By U.S. Senate

April 18, 2013

The U.S. Senate passed last Wednesday, by unanimous consent, Senate Resolution 95, which designates April 18, 2013 as “National Lineman Appreciation Day.”

The resolution reads in part:  “Recognizing linemen, the profession of linemen, the contributions of these brave men and women who protect public safety....  Whereas linemen often work under dangerous conditions far from their families to construct and maintain the energy infrastructure of the United States... Whereas linemen put their lives on the line every day with little recognition from the commuity regarding the danger of their work... the Senate recognizes the efforts of linemen in keeping the power on and protecting public safety.”

The resolution was sponsored by Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) and Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).
