UPDATE - Dig-In Cuts Gas Service to Bunker Hill

December 29, 2014

The City of Bunker Hill is without natural gas service, after an excavator dug through a natural gas line serving the city just before 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 29. Midwest Energy crews were soon on the scene and completed repairs to the gas line by 1 p.m. Midwest Energy notified affected residents and businesses by phone, and servicemen are going door-to-door through Bunker Hill to purge gas lines of air and to re-light pilot lights for an estimated 67 homes and businesses. As of 8 p.m. on Dec. 29, re-lights have been accomplished at all facilities.

Given the bitter cold temperatures expected in the coming days, Midwest Energy is concerned there may be people out of town for the holidays, and our crews won’t be able to access their premises to restore service. Midwest Energy is seeking assistance from neighbors to notify these out-of-town residents and to gain access to their property.

If you have any questions about this outage and the restoration of natural gas service, please call Midwest Energy at 1-800-222-3121.
