Open Meeting Scheduled for Tariff Changes

January 04, 2019

Midwest Energy is considering changes to its renewable energy Parallel Generator – Qualifying Facility (QF) tariff.  This is not a general rate increase proposal.

The QF tariff sets the buy-back rate for energy sent back to Midwest Energy for generators larger than those governed by Kansas statutes, or not subject to a pre-existing contract.  Midwest Energy currently has no customers on the QF tariff.  The company proposes to cancel the existing QF tariff, and handle any future qualifying generator purchase requests through individually-negotiated purchased power agreements.

The Board of Directors will consider and vote on the proposal at an open member meeting on Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at 11 a.m., at the Midwest Energy office, 1330 Canterbury Dr., Hays.  All members are welcome to attend.

Members may submit comments no later than Friday, Feb. 8 by email to Bob Muirhead, VP of Customer Service, or by calling 785-650-2502.
